First session of 2014

Today we went to a pretty secret spot, I use the term secret loosely, as there was around 120 people there, but hey, it was one of the only places working with the monstrous swell we had today, and it is probably one of the best waves in the uk! It certainly didn’t disappoint.

Ive attached a link to the photos from today, they aren’t the best quality, and a bit far away, but they give a rough idea of what it was like!

Enjoy!

Sri Lanka

Waow! What can I say, what an amazing, in some ways life changing trip! Travelling meeting so many amazing people from all around the world. The kindness of the locals, the people with the least, really blew my mind.

We had 2 months of surfing, training everyday the surf never disappointed. There wasn’t one unsurfable day the entire time we were there!

Here are a few pics of my trip!

Irish Open 2013

Off the back of the British Open, 1 week later I attended the Irish open in Easkey, Co Sligo. The build up to the event was great, watching the surf forecast, and lets just say it didn’t disappoint. It really was Easkey at its best!

After an early start, we arrived just as daylight was breaking, to see this….

The competition ran really well, super efficient, and after a long day, and the final heats with 55kph winds, we were all finished up!

It was great to see my dad returning to competition, after nearly 2 years of not even surfing, he made the final!

British Open 2013

I attended the British open on the 14th / 15th September. We had good, small conditions, and the competition standard was high. With the exception of having to re-run a heat due to lost score sheets, the event ran really well. The Nisurfkayak guys done a great job.

I got 2nd place for the 3rd year running, now THAT is consistency!!

North Devon Surf Classic & Heritage Event

Saturday hosted a ranked competition followed by a BBQ and social gathering at Croyde Hotspot: Billy Budds.

Sunday included the events famous Vintage Surf Classic: where Mullets mean prizes, and old kit praised with points. The day was a chance for all to get in the water in a general expression session/ freesurf.

The event was kindly held by volunteers and all proceeds from the event will go to Glyn Brackenbury’s efforts raising money for MS charities, most recently involving a colossal trip from John of Groats to Lands End in a kayak.
I was lucky enough to Win 1st place in the Open Category.

Ocean Spirit 2013

jet open

Ocean Spirit, what can I say, What a fabulous event!

Bars, Music, Surf, Good Food, and Ladies, what more can you want from an event?

I entered the Open High Performance, Open International Class, and The New Age World Wave Ski Cup.

The week started great, with the organisers waiting for the best conditions before running any of the heats, and it led to some great surfing, and some tight heats! I was fortunate enough to get firsts in all myheats, so avoided the reps.

On the day before the finals, I picked up an injury by dislocating my Clavicle… Which resulted in alot of pain! But thanks to the onsite Physiotherapists, (who told me not to paddle) I was as ready as I could be for my finals.
