Bio:

I started Kayaking at the age of 4, with my Dad who was a member of our local club, Blackwater Canoe Club. The club is based on the River Blackwater, so river paddling was my main discipline for 8 years. He took me to my first surf kayaking competition at Easkey, County Sligo when I was 12. Ever since my love for the sport has grown.

I started out in river paddling, and competing in boatercross river races and slaloms in local club leagues as well as being on the junior Olympic development squad, however I consider surf kayaking as my main competitive goal.

Over the past fifteen years I have been traveling to many national, and international competitions  representing Northern Ireland. I paddled on both junior and senior level, in which time I have been lucky enough to travel to many parts of the world.

With the support from my local surf kayak club, ‘Northern Ireland Surf Kayak Club,’ and many people around me, I was lucky enough to win my first Junior World Title in 2006, by winning the World Cup in Peniche, Portugal. Following that I won the Junior International class World Title in 2007, in Bakio, Spain. My most recent success has been winning with Open High Performance Class at the 2011 World Championships held at Jeanette’s Pier, Nags Head on the outer banks, North Carolina USA. This was by far the most amazing experience, one which really blew me away.

I have been fortunate enough in my kayaking career to work for, and become partner in Mega performance kayaks. I love designing, making, and surfing kayaks around the world.

In September 2013, I left Mega, and after 7 months off work, travelling, including 2 months surfing in Sri Lanka, I started work with Ride Surf Kayaks.

Working with Ride has been a real breath of fresh air, hand making quality, world class kayaks, And to see people enjoying something you hand crafted, it is a very humbling experience…

2013/14  was a fantastic season for me, winning back to back European championships, British championships, and back to back Irish championships!
